A Witchy Time of Year...

The goblins or gremlins are really out and residing at my house this week. My laptop apparently didn't like the time change so refused to load the operating system. Not in safe mode, not in the last configuration that worked...nothing. So I started out my day needing to restore everything. Which naturally deleted everything from the hard drive. So, today I will be working on reloading all my software instead of writing, as I should be.

Now, the good part to this story, if there is such a thing, is that I save very little to my hard drive and I work mostly from memory sticks (thank goodness!). So, although I did lose some data, it wasn't anything that I'll die without. And just the other day I transferred all the pictures to CDs, I guess I'm good there. There were a couple of things, but I'll survive. All of my stories are backed up and backed up again in other places.

I learned my lesson about fifteen years ago when my first computer nosedived and I lost all the edits on a story I was working on as well as everything else, and the backups wouldn't open for me. That story is still setting on my floor. Once day, I hope I'll get it finished.

The gremlins have shown their nasty little faces in other ways, but this was the latest. I think I'm going to be glad to make it to November.

Anyway, back to more fun topics. Isn't the story the authors did just for this holiday great? I know I'm enjoying it a lot.
