Thursday's Midnight Brew at the Midnight Moon Café is a sultry mix of hot desert winds and steamy passions when we welcome award-winning author Barbara Clark.

Barbara, who also writes under the erotic romance pen name of April Reid, creates sultry sci-fi with exotic paranormal overtones. Her stories captivate the imagination.

Born in San Diego, California, but basically raised all over the United States, Barbara did most of that moving during World War 2 when her father's job took him to the East Coast and back again. The two and a half years she lived in Tucson, Arizona, influenced her life and her writing.

A former school teacher, Barbara is now retired and excited by her new and growing career as a writer. Her book Dark Passions was a Golden Quill Finalist, and also a Desert Rose Golden Quill Awards Finalist—for Best Science Fiction/Fantasy/Futuristic!

In 1999, her book Tears of the Hawk, Book I: Sons of Earth and Wind won the prestigious Dorothy Parker Award.

Her book A Breath of Heather won numerous awards including The Orange Rose Award, The Reviewer's Choice Award from Scribes World, and was a finalist in Affaire de Coeur Magazine's Reader-Writer Poll. In 2001 it received an honorable mention in the Daphne Du Maurier Award, Paranormal Category. In 2001, her book A Touch of Fire won the Golden Quill Award for Best Paranormal Romance Sime~Gen reviewers' choice
