Only One Regret

This is Josh. He's dead.

Only One Regret is my first Amber Allure title. It's scheduled for release on Oct 26, just in time for Halloween.

Writing for the Allure line was a giant step for me. I first had to overcome the belief that a woman could never write a M/M romance convincingly. But my characters: Daniel, Ramon, Josh, were unmistakably gay and, if I was to tell the story at all, that hurdle needed to be overcome.

So, I researched (and don't think that wasn't fun :) and in my research discovered some amazing authors and absolute gems to add to my library. To mention a few: Armistead Maupin, A.J. Llewellyn, Josh Lanyon. To these men, I am forever grateful for hours of enjoyment and a fresh perspective.

Here's a little about Only One Regret.

Blurb

Rock musician, Daniel Sanborn, has given his lover, Ramón Alvarez, too many opportunities to practice forgiveness. Their relationships is barely healing from the crisis that was Daniel's wake-up call when a ghost from the past walks in to audition for the band.

Melanie is the widow of Josh Taylor, Daniel's first and greatest love and the woman who, a dozen years ago, unknowingly stole his life along with his lover. When her talent proves to be exactly what the band needs to take them in the direction they hope to go, how can he be the lone dissenting vote? He makes the decision to hire her unanimous and fields Ramón's jealous streak by hiding the depth of his resurrecting emotions.

Since Daniel last saw her at Josh's funeral, Melanie has come unhinged. She never smiles, and she talks to her dead husband when she thinks no one is listening. Daniel shrugs it off to eccentricity and grief until her ghost makes its appearance.

Apparently, Daniel and Josh have unfinished business, and not the kind Daniel feels comfortable sharing with Ramón. As far as Daniel is concerned, that past is as dead as the man it belonged to. Josh's ghost, however, has other ideas.

Daniel's ten-year-old secrets could be the last straw for Ramón, but keeping them buried might prove impossible.

Excerpt

The berth was colder than usual. Shutting himself in the tiny room,
Daniel kicked off his shoes and removed his belt, then reached for a
blanket.

Icy fingers ran the length of his spine.

His reaction was instantaneous. He jerked from the touch, dived for
the door. A hand grabbed him by the collar, hauled him off his feet.
His face met the bulkhead.

"No!" The shout lodged in his throat.

A hard body leaned into him with easy intimacy. A very solid erection
burrowed into the crack of his ass through the denim.

"Oh, fuck. Oh, fuck." The curses squeezed past the steel grip
of fear binding his throat. His panicked gaze bounced, wildly within its
limited range, searching for anything to make the solid body pressing against
him real. Finally, he had to close his eyes against the unseen, shrinking
from whatever came next.

Wintry lips slid over his jaw—gentle lips, just the breath of a kiss.
An arm slid between Daniel and the wall, across his abdomen to clutch his
hip.

The move was all too familiar. He threw his arms out, shoving against
the bulkhead, trying to escape before the ghost completed the embrace, but it
easily restrained his flailing limbs, holding him fast with an unyielding hug
across the chest.

Daniel felt himself lifted away from the bulkhead. He hung suspended,
feet barely touching the floor, subdued by an invisible master while gentle,
cold kisses caressed his face, neck and shoulder. As though answering a
hypnotist's command, his body remembered and submitted.
Thanks so much reading and the chance to share.

Don't forget to check out my other AmberHeat titles:
Glory available here and
Gato Negro, coming November 2

Oh, and please, feel free to add to my list of male erotica authors. I'm short on reading material this month.
