Finding Forever (Sutter's Bay 4, Leo and Nolan)

It’s been a year or so since the third story from my Sutter’s Bay series released, Galaxy’s Heart. I’d always planned on doing Galaxy’s brother, Leo’s story next in the series but other stories came first before I could get to it.

Originally, when I was writing Galaxy’s Heart I had thought of pairing Leo with Tony, Galaxy’s cop friend. You can probably guess that by some subtle hints of what was to come in that story.

But somewhere along the way before I got to writing Finding Forever I decided I needed a different sort of hero for Leo, someone around the same age and with some similar circumstances to his, so I created Nolan and Finding Forever was born. Leo and Nolan are quite young so in some ways I think of it as sort of a young adult story.

For years, Nolan Young has tried to deny he’s gay. With an abusive, homophobic father, who is also the mayor of Sutter’s Bay, Nolan has no choice but to ignore that part of himself.

 

Until he meets Leo Winthrop on the beach one day. Leo is exactly the kind of guy Nolan would want...if he could allow himself to act on his desires.

 

Leo has been dealing with demons of his own. His older brother brought him to Sutter’s Bay, intending to help Leo put his past behind him. Yet the quaint town hasn’t been much help...until now. Meeting cute and innocent Nolan changes Leo’s outlook and brings hope to his life for the first time in years. But can he convince Nolan to stand up to his father and take a chance on forever with him?

Finding Forever is the fourth Sutter’s Bay book and I believe I have two more planned in the series to ultimately make it six. I don’t think it will go beyond that. So sometime in 2013 I expect Rex’s brother, Steve, to come to Sutter’s Bay for a visit and find himself falling for the rather flamboyant, Edward, who readers will meet, briefly, in Finding Forever.
